Meet the Trustees

Mr Doug Jackson – Doug Jackson is an Independent Business Consultant specialising in Sales & Marketing and International Trade.  He and his wife Carol (retired School Teaching Assistant) have three sons who each attended Heathfield School. Doug was Chairman of the Parents’ Association for three years. He is currently Chairman of Heathfield Educational Trust.

Dr. Stephanie Thomas -  Stephanie Thomas is an educational consultant in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). She has been inspecting for the Independent Schools Inspectorate for 20 years and continues to inspect in retirement. She has recently retired from full time teaching as Head of Learning Support at Dean Close, Cheltenham but was Head of Learning Support at Heathfield School 17 years ago. Her new role as a trustee is to advise on SEND, including Gifted, Able and Talented, and to contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning. Stephanie is Deputy Chairman of Heathfield Educational Trust

Mr. Tim Bayliss -In a teaching career spanning over 30 years, in both maintained and independent sectors, Tim Bayliss has held various positions of responsibility including Head of Geography, Head of Year, Head of House, Senior Sixth Form Tutor, Advanced Skills Teacher and Interactive Electronic Whiteboard (IWB) mentor. A trained ISI inspector and Chartered Geographer, he is published widely, including GCSE and A-level textbooks for Oxford University Press - in addition to co-authoring award winning A-level e-resources for Cross Academe. He has both lectured and lead workshops on Effective IWB Practice in Geography Teaching and GIS, for regional and national Promethean, Royal Geographical Society and Geographical Association conferences. He has also contributed to research projects in the production of exemplar materials for NESTA, the Geographical Association, the Royal Geographical Society, Ordnance Survey, BECTA and United Learning. Tim was elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 2003.

Mrs Sarah Burns - Sarah Burns has been a current parent for almost 9 years. She has been a Police Officer for 28 years, mainly operating within the Criminal Investigation Department and has a vast experience of the different facets of policing. She has worked extensively in the area of child protection and safeguarding and will bring this experience to the Trust. Away from work, Sarah runs a Beaver Scout section, and regularly assists the Cub Scout Leader. She is also the safeguarding co-ordinator for West Mercia Scout County and is responsible for referring concerns to the appropriate authority


Ms Emma Griffin - Emma Griffin is Director of an Events and Exhibition company and currently brings her professional skills of marketing and project management to her work with the Trust; whilst a Trust member Emma has sat on both Trust interview and appeal panels and assisted with staff liaison and helped to organise the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the School. As a past pupil of Heathfield Emma has maintained close ties with the School by joining the Old Wolvernian Committee in the late 1980s, holding the office of President and then becoming Honorary Secretary. She is also a Trustee of the Chapel Fund, a Governor of the Sebright Educational Trust and was invited to join the board of Trustees of Heathfield School in 2001.

Mr Alan Bullock - Alan Bullock joined the Board of Trustees on 2 January 2017 having had an association with The Knoll School for over 30 years, latterly as Chairman of its Trustee Board. Alan is currently a business consultant, but his main career was within the flooring industry where he was CEO of Victoria PLC a company quoted on the London Stock Exchange. Alan has vast International, Financial, HR and Sales & Marketing experience. With strong business ethics, sound strategic vision and financial acumen, Alan brings a common sense approach and depth of business experience to Heathfield Knoll School.
